“Dead Space: The Conjuring Films and the Revenge of Physical Reality”
This audiovisual essay was presented at an environmental humanities conference, Earth(ly) Matters: Roots, Rebellions, and Resolutions, on August 14, 2020. The essay draws on the late film theory of Siegfried Kracauer and contemporary eco-critical scholarship to investigate the capacity for horror films to mediate and shape attitudes towards space and the environment.
