In my research, I engage broadly with the materiality of film and other media. That is, I am interested in the relationship between media and the world that produces it: the resources used, the labor required, and the environmental impact of its production, circulation, and distribution. I have explored these interests in a variety of texts and contexts, ranging from key moments in film and media industry, as well as the horror genre, to animation, and digital media. My goal is to frame media industries asindustries that draw from and rely on processes of racialized labor and resource extraction. I also consider the implications these processes have for our critical and aesthetic engagement with media texts and objects. For a full list of publications, see my C.V. here.
